Due to the situation of the international Airport in Tripoli since 2014 , Durwa took the initiative to present the idea of developing the city airport in Tripoli to the Libya Airport authorities.

Durwa has been awarded the project of developing the Mitiga International Airport, the secondary airport of the Libyan capital Tripoli, the airport is located 3 kilometers away from downtown and is right in front of the Mediterranean Sea, occupying an area of 186 hectares including the existing (3.60 km) runway and taxiway.

Mitiga Airport will be developed as a full scale passenger and cargo airport to service international and domestic flights to and from Tripoli.

 

 

Durwa has provided concept designs for (Airside (runways, taxiways and aprons), passenger, Hajj, and VIP terminals, cargo terminal, other buildings, for instance fire station, workshops, hangars and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) facilities and Landside development including access roads and car parking.
